Feywild NPCs

Recently I have been making a few lists of Easter Egg NPCs. I have a few that might work for a Feywild campaign like Wild Beyond the Witchlight (As if you needed more NPCs).

The Forgotten Realms wiki describes this plane as “The Feywild, also known as the Plane of Faerie or simply Faerie,… an “echo” of the Prime Material Plane suffused with potent magic, and unrestrained emotions. It was the place from which fey originated, and from where the first elves arrived in Faerûn.”

My Pop Culture Party series and other proclivities has yielded a few possibilities for a diverse array of Feywild NPCs that your campaign might borrow.

UNICORNS

UNI

Uni

This Unicorn was once the companion of a gnome wizard and his party of young adventurers. They will answer to “Uni” and possibly assist any adventurers, but beware…their true purpose is to find more mortal pawns for the Master’s manipulative schemes! Your party might just do.

They are inspired by the 1980s D&D cartoon.

AMALTHEA

Amalthea

Amalthea is a unicorn who was once trapped in human form when she ventured beyond the Feywild. Perhaps your party encounters her while still trapped and searching for the truth. Maybe she still walks in human form on occasion to remember her lost love and all her travails in the material plane. I think her class would be a homebrewed Sorcerer (Feyblood) (or Divine Soul). She is extrapolated from classic cartoon, The Last Unicorn.

FIRBOLG

FEZZIK

Fezzik (Firbolg – Bard – College of Valour)

Fezzik the Firbolg Bard (College of Valour) felt friendless and hopeless outside of the Feywild and became easily manipulated by those who wanted his mammoth strength, and not the inspiring magic of his clever rhymes. But perhaps your party finds him after he has freed himself and returned, or maybe freeing him is your ticket to the Feywild.

He is inspired by Andre the Giant’s character in Princess Bride.

SULLY

Sully (Firbolg – Barbarian – Path of Wild Magic)

The Firbolg known as Sully was born on the Material Plane and felt strangely limited by it. It was only when this Barbarian (Path of Wild Magic) voyaged to the Feywild, on behalf of evil forces in the Flaming Fist, that he discovered himself and his own potential. You and your party might have to help him foil the Fist’s plans!

He is adapted from the Avatar franchise (the lame one). You’ll find a slightly different story here.

ELADRIN

I’ve drawn a whole series of Eladrin, but based on the 4e concept of very magical fey elves – not the seasonal Eladrin of 5e.

AEOFEL

Aeofel Elhromane (Eladrin – Paladin – Oath of Vengeance)

The former intern of an adventuring company on Toril, Aeofel is an Eladrin Paladin (Oath of Vengeance) with a noble heart and a biting wit. Just don’t send him near acid and don’t get his name wrong. He is another good avenue for those wanting to access the Feywild…and you know he’ll work for intern’s wages.

He is a player character from the early days of Acquisitions Incorporated live play events, brought to life by Wil Wheaton.

JULIANNA AND TOVELISS E’TEALL

Julianna and Toveliss

“Julianna” is a mortal name taken as a convenience by this Eladrin wizardess (School of Evocation), who likes to visit the material plane. Her father, Toveliss E’teall is the Fey Lord of Cydaria, and Guardian of the Silver Mountains. He too is a wizard but of the Bladesinger tradition. She could be your party’s ticket to the Feywild. She is also the key to her father’s good and his bad side. Ulp!

These two Eladrin originally started in the amazing Fell’s Five D&D comics (during the 4th edition period).

MARLYN

Marlyn the Archfey

Marlyn is an Eladrin of immense power and rules his own Domain of Delight from his Starlight Citadel. He is a master manipulator and counts the adventuring party Caledfwych as just one of his pawns throughout the multiverse. Your party might be the victim of his plots.

If you needed a class for him, I think Wizard of the Chronurgy School would fit. He is inspired by the character in the Captain Britain and Excalibur comics from Marvel.

YOUNG AUBERON

AUBERON (Eladrin – Sorcerer – Divine Soul)

Auberon is a young fey sorcerer (Divine soul) who is destined for great things but his naïveté may blind him to the court’s manipulations. Your party might have to shield him…in the hopes of a powerful ally in the future. And in the Feywild, the future might not be that far off.

They are inspired by Vertigo Comics and The Sandman and related works, namely the Book of Faerie.

THE CLURACAN

The Cluracan (Eladrin – Bard – College of Glamour)

The Cluracan, a Bard of the College of Glamour, is a fey’s fey, capricious and lusty, devious and honourable. Not necessarily to be trusted but certainly charming beyond measure. He is a trusted emissary of the Summer Queen and may encounter your party on official business.

He is inspired by Vertigo Comics and The Sandman and related works, where you might find other inspiration for adventures among the fey.

SITHAS AND LORAS

Sithas (Eladrin – Cleric – War Domain) and Loras (Eladrin – Warlock – Pact of the Talisman, Archfey Patron)

Sithas and Loras are two Eladrin princes, one a warrior and the other a warlock. Sithas, a Cleric of the War Domain, is as hidebound and traditional as any Elfking. His brother left the feywild long ago for the life of an elf on Toril – for which Sithas has still not forgiven him. Has your party met his brother? He might well desire news.

Loras’ doom is more sinister, for this Warlock has made orb-based pacts with an ancient green dragon and more and more comes under its nefarious spell – as does his domain. Your party may need to free him if they can and kill him if they can’t.

These two are inspired by Dragonlance and the Silvanesti grey elves.

MORTALS

THE PEVENSIES

The Pevensies (Eodmund, Lucia, Sousanna, and Petros)

When raiders drove them from their homes in the Moonshaes to Waterdeep, the Pevensies found a magic portal to the Feywild in an old wardrobe. An Archfey there took pity on them and made them his charges. Petros is a Paladin now, while Sousanna is a ranger. Rogue Eodmund betrayed his siblings to the intrigues of the Queen of Air and Darkness before redeeming himself. Valiant Lucia is a Cleric of the Life Domain and the Archfey’s favourite. Eventually they will have to return to the mortal realm. Will your party help? Or is it their charge to help the children get back to the magical realm they miss?

They are, of course, the children from the Narnia Chronicles and a slightly different version of their story can be found here.

THE SONS OF MARIUS

The Sons of Marius

Marius and Ludovicus, a monk and cleric respectively, fell through a fey portal beneath Sembia and became embroiled in Feywild adventures. Aided by the halfling rogue Kinopio, they serve the Eladrin Princess who rules over one Domain of Delight. She’s often getting kidnaped and rescuing her might fall to your party – but is it all some strange fey game?

They are quite evidently inspired by the Mario Bros game franchise.
