Anchorome – Long Canyon Giant and Azuposi Woman

Long Canyon Giant and Azuposi Woman

In the Anchorome Campaign Guide, based on the City of Gold module from D&D, there is a community of giants living in the Long Canyon in southern Anchorome. Rather than being related to Faerunian giants they are actually Azuposi who were long ago enlarged by the magic of the mysterious Esh Alakarans.

The Azuposi woman is partly me realizing I hadn’t drawn any women from the southern Anchorome nations. I believe she is a bard and/or a Pluma-weaver.

The Metahel (and friends) of Anchorome

The City of Gold module, upon which the Anchorome Campaign Guide is partially based, includes a non-Indigenous people known as the Metahel. These are a group of outsiders who migrated “from the North-West” and are now acknowledged as one of the human “tribes” of Anchorome.

I went back and forth on the Metahel for a while, honestly. I have no wish to depict white people dressed up on Indigenous dress in the “white saviour” mold of so many films. But I recently moved to the West Coast and became intrigued at the idea of a Nordic Viking culture (Which I believe was implied in the Metahel’s background) living alongside an analogue of the many Pacific North-West peoples. I imagine that the Metahel have begun to intermarry with the Minnenewah, developing a mixed culture.

The redhead is meant to be a warlock who combines some elements of trickster figures (Raven, Coyote, Loki), and the dark haired warrior on the right is meant to be a mixed-blooded descendant of the merging of Metahel and Anchorome peoples.

I think the Anchorome Campaign Guide and the City of Gold imagine a distinct and new origin (and new gods) for the Metahel, but I feel like the Forgotten Realms already has a Nordic-inspired people in the Northlanders of the Moonshaes and North-West Faerun. I don’t see any reason why they couldn’t have ended up in Anchorome, although getting to the West coast must be an interesting story!

Anchorome – Elves of the True World (Update)

Druid, Rogue, and Fighter

The elves of Anchorome migrated from Faerun in ancient times, following a prophet, Pehotan. They tend to be xenophobic, especially towards the east coast, where they have historically warred upon Faerunian invaders like the Flaming Fist. I didn’t want to evoke any specific Indigenous group, so I made them a bit more generic – with a few elements from the Indigenous Sami people of Europe’s arctic – seeing as how they likely migrated via the ice caps.

This is an update drawing from my previous post of elves and half elves, adding the female fighter on the right.

The Poscadari elves of Anchorome are Forgotten Realms canon, thanks to the Maztica City of Gold module, but the fan-created Anchorome Campaign Guide has elaborated upon them.
